Winnie and I went to see Jason Mraz perform at TaiDa yesterday. GREAT show. He is fun and dynamic, and sounds better live than he does on recordings. He sang almost all my favourites, except for "Curbside Prophet" and "Love for a Child." Particularly memorable were a stunning solo performance (above) of "The Boy's Gone," "Lucky" (sung with Evonne Hsu), "Geek in the Pink" and a crowd participation version of "The Dynamo of Volition." When he sang "The Remedy," he had the audience sing the "I won't worry my life away" part and then sang Oasis' "Wonderwall" lyrics on top. His band was fantastic. This was so worth it!

But the one that gets me deep in the mushy parts of my heart is "A Beautiful Mess." And he sang it movingly, with great sweeping flourishes of brass. And it has been in my head since then, and life really is a beautiful mess, and that is the wonder of it.
