So multicultural
There's a big emphasis on being "international" here. Everyone seems to want to be "people of the world" in the sense that they want to experience and understand other languages and cultures.
Tonight I went on another night market escapade, this time with three other people, whose first languages were Chinese, French and Hebrew (all of which I have studied, but only one of which I can actually converse in). There was A LOT of translation taking place, which was a little exhausting, I must say. At one point, Israel dude turns to me and says, "This is so... multicultural." To put it mildly.
