Monumental discovery made
They've found Luther's toilet!
...the finding represents an important human side of Luther, on whose texts scholars concentrated for centuries...
Yeah. Okay.
On a related note, here's a bit from my review of Luther, which is now playing at The Globe in WInnipeg and at Showcase Cinemas, Burlington.
I was struck, in particular, by one scene where Tetzel sells indulgences in a church, the beauty of the building contrasting with the ugliness of the business being conducted in it. The whole situation was believable in showing this practice as being horrifying in our eyes, but a very real comfort for the people at the time.
The real star of this show is, undoubtedly, the story. Luther is a solid--albeit Hollywoodized--historical drama because the plot, the characters and even the dialogue carry the screenplay and actors.
